Project Manager

This vacancy, working as part of the Projects Division based at our Goole Depot, requires an individual who possesses a good knowledge of transport and/or engineering standards and best practices.  The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting and operating the management of projects from initial concept through to completion.  Site meetings throughout the UK, European and sometimes worldwide will be required to service client requirements.

Working as part of the Projects Team, this appointment will report directly to the Senior Project Manager for the company. The role will include

  • Fielding incoming calls and emails from customers, drivers and sub-contractors
  • Attending kickoff meetings with clients to establish the clients exact requirements, finalizing and agreeing programs
  • Producing all relevant RAMS, equipment lists and communicating this to the Team
  • Dealing with the planning & scheduling of road transport operations
  • Planning the movement of Abnormal Indivisible Loads (AILs), including obtaining required permits, undertaking route surveys, and providing customer reports
  • Managing operations on a cost effective basis
  • Attend site for the execution of the project collaborating and supporting the Site Supervisor and Crew in the completion of the project by being the main point of contact with the client on site with regards to coordination, project programme, engineering and HSQE issues
  • Provide technical support to the site Team and respond to issues on site in a professional and timely manner.
  • Develop the Project Manager role leading the Project Team and being responsible of all aspects of the project, either technical, budgetary, SHEQ, logistics, schedule, etc.

Experience required

The candidate will initially be responsible to assist with running of projects, and then develop to take responsibility and manage these functions.  They must be customer focused, have an attention to detail, be able to complete all necessary documentation, commercially astute and be suitable to work on a personal level with the client base.


  • Minimum education to O level standard (maths and English essential), but A Level or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in a logistics environment, knowledge of the heavy lift/transport sector preferred
  • Full clean driving license
  • Relevant experience in a similar role

Office Skills

  • Demonstrate ability to complete tasks, with attention to detail
  • Have a good understanding and geographic knowledge of UK and Europe
  • Ability to record and report progress & development of the task
  • High level of computer skill and competency, preferably including use of CAD software

Personal Qualities

  • Can work independently and takes the initiative
  • Effective communicator at all levels
  • Build business relationships with colleagues and clients

The role is based at our Goole depot, but may be required to travel between other depots or clients in order to oversee or manage some percentage of the task.


Remuneration package variable and subject to discussion, which will be dependent upon the individual’s previous work experience. 28 days holiday per year including Bank Holidays. Company contributions to the company pension scheme are offered subject to conditions. Overnight subsistence costs are paid when away from base
