Learning & Development Officer

Location: Halifax

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a motivated and organised Learning & Development Officer to join our Compliance Team, reporting directly to the Compliance Director. This permanent, full-time role is integral to workforce development and the department’s future success.

You will manage, develop, and deliver training across the business, supported by both in-house and external facilities. Travel will be required to support operatives at other depots and client sites.

    Scope & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop, deliver and administer training programmes for all employees, including Driver CPC, Manual Handling, inductions, internal qualifications and HTA City & Guilds Abnormal Loads / Escort Driver training (training provided).
    • Coordinate external training, maintain compliance with training providers and awarding bodies and keep accurate training records.
    • Analyse workforce training needs and contribute to the development of the company’s training facilities.
    • Support the Compliance Team in planning, delivering and improving all company training programmes.

    Qualification & Experience

    • Recognised Teaching Qualification and Internal Verifiers Qualification.
    • Experience in vocational assessment and developing training courses from start to finish.
    • Experience registering and maintaining courses with training organisations.
    • Logistics, road haulage or heavy lifting industry experience preferred but not essential (training provided).
    • FORS Safe Urban Driving Trainer and Manual Handling Trainer preferred but not essential.
    • Competent in documentation, recording and reporting.
    • Full UK Driving Licence essential (Cat B minimum, Cat C or C+E advantageous).

    Location and conditions

    Based at Head Office in Halifax, with travel to depots in Bradford, Goole and Grangemouth and occasional client sites.

    Normal working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00 (flexibility required).
    28 days holiday per year, holiday purchase scheme (subject to conditions) and company pension contributions.
